And to think he came up as a reliever/closer.

After today his record will stand at 17-6 with a SUB 2.00 era and a SUB 1.00 whip!

He will likely have 10 more starts. It would not surprise me if he wins 25 games the way hes been pitching.

Care to explain to me how 17-3, 2.55 is better than 17-6, 1.99, 0.96?

He should win the CY young this year if he remains consistent to end of year.

yup, ESPN is too busy promoting baseball to minorities.
The other week I heard them say "Jiminez pitched a great no hitter, and Halladay pitched a great game too"
Halladay pitched a fukn perfect game, which is much more difficult than a no hitter!

Line makers don't give this guy too much respect either, especially on the road.

they fukked him out of the Cy Young last year and will probably do it again... fuk ubaldo and jj, id take Wainwright for 1 start over either one any day...

Mad capper, he didnt exactly come up as a reliever, Wainwright was always a starter but we needed a closer when he 1st came up so he took on that roll for the WS season...

And the guy can swing the bat. I can't really take a pitcher seriously that can't field his position or swing the bat. His stuff is nasty tho.

I didn't think anyone could catch Jiminez in wins, but he has done it. Alot of his earlier outings came at cheap odds,IMO. Great 1-2 combo ST L has, then Garcia #3 sets them up really nice for a playoff run if they get there.

I hope you don't Ubdalo may not even finish in the top 3 - He certainly isnt one the top three, nor has he been the last 6 weeks, its possible some of the clueless sports wtiter will vote for him - but no way he wins it.

Yeah, he is having a great year! He is getting overshadowed by Ubaldo's performance right now.

Wainwright and Carpenter hurt their chances last year from a Cy Young award standpoint by being so good on the same team. Carpenter has been hot as of late as well and is a 2nd half pitcher (think he's 13-3 right now). Last year, Wainwright stole some votes from Carpenter and Lincecum won. This year if Carpenter keeps it up, he'll steal votes from Wainwright and Jiminez will win.

As someone else stated, he was always a starter. He was just so good that the Cardinals had no where to turn during 2006 for a closer and Wainwright solidified the spot.

But you have to admit that the concept of 'stealing votes' is absolutely moronic. and even if the do 'steal' votes from each other, Jiminez won't benefit. Last year raised my faith the the typically ignorant voting.

If Carp and Waino steal from each other Johnson or Halladay will benefit --
