Why is the Pirates -2.5 (+1400) Alternate Line so high?
Its on 5dimes. I know when a team is a big underdog like the Pirates are today with +280 or so, alternate lines for them -1.5 and -2.5 brings much greater plus money. However, is there a reason -2.5 is this high? It's +1400! I see some games where underdogs are +325 or so and even then the highest i seen for that underdog to lay 2.5 runs was +1000 at the best. Even the Mariners today who are +280 dogs or so have their -2.5 runline as +800 as oppose to +1400 for the Pirates. But usually taking a real big underdog -2.5 offers +750 or so.

Is this because its the Cardinals and Wainwright just won't allow runs as oppose to Liriano who can just explode at any time?

Pirates won 2 in a row on the road against the Rockies. Now it's back to them being the normal Pirates we all know and love to bet against.

I think it has more to do with Wainwright.. and his numbers. and then the fact that it is, too, the Pirates.
            Don't waste it.

Wainwright is statistically the best home pitcher in baseball. Even if the Cardinal bats fall asleep like they're known to do, it's tough to imagine the Pirates winning by 3.

                  wow I like that bet....

thing with the Pirates is that they actually have some really impressive young talent.... and with young talent that hasn't matured yet... somtimes you get flashes of brilliance. so that bet was worth throwing a few bucks on...
