Yesterday was a horrible day for me betting baseball and in horses and pretty much everything I touched. It is really weird considering the day before I had a great day and went 5-1. I went 0-2 on my posted picks and both of my picks, the game was over before it got started. I never would forseen that Jimenez would of gotten rocked the way he did. Garcia for the White Sox didn't survive three innings either and both teams got shelled. At least I could turn off the games early and go do something else. My goal has always been to go 60 percent in baseball consider I play a lot of dogs, that is a good profit. Right now I am sitting at 57.3 percent for the year on all my plays and I am up a few hundred so I am happy. I just want to push that percentage up a couple points and make it a good year before football. So lets get started for Sunday.
Atlanta Braves -150 over the Florida Marlins
The coolest name in baseball takes the mound for the Atlanta Braves in Jerr Jurjens. Jurjens has been excellent for the braves since returning from the disabled list. He started the season 0-3 with a 6.38 era, but since returning he is 3-0 with a 2.19 era. His last start was against San Diego where he went 7 strong innings and struck out 7 and gave up 1 run and 5 hits. He has started to take form and look like the dominating pitcher he was last year. This will be his first start against the Marlins this year and last year he was was 2-0 with a 1.80 era against the fish. The Marlins send Chris Volstad to the mound who will be getting called back up from the minors to start the game. He started the season well going 3-2 with a 4.12 era before getting shelled his next 11 going 1-6 with a 5.22 era. The Marlins lost 10 of those 11 starts. Volstad is 1-2 with a 4.30 era against the braves in his career. The braves got their offense on track yesterday scoring 10 runs and 8 of those in 1 inning. Look for another big day for them.
Cincinnati Reds -125 over the Houston Astros
I feel like this line should be 20 points higher, but I am going roll with it. If Cincinnati could play the Astros every day they would win the pennant. The Reds have won 16 of 18 games against Houston and 9 of 10 at Houston and should sweep this three game series. They are hitting .320 with 28 homers and averging 6.38 runs per game. If you put up 7 runs against the Astros, you are almost guarenteed a win considering their offense is horrible. The reds send Rookie Mike Leake to the mound who is 7-1 with a 3.45 era to the mound. He is 3-0 with a 2.45 era on the road this season. He gave up 1 run against Houston over 7 in his last start against them. He also should be freshed as he only pitched 69 pitches last start due to the rain stricken game. The Astros send Wandy Rodriguez to the mound who is 7-11 with a 5.25 era this season. He has pitched well as of late winning 4 of 5 with a 2.81 era. He will have to be as the Reds will bring their bats and destroy Houston in this spot.
Good luck today with whatever you decide to play. Hopefully we can win some money.
