Well, yesterday was up and down day as all of last week was. The Astros looked horrible and never got on track. Oswalt only lasted a few innings before being pulled due to injury. I would usually say this cost them the game, but not here, the Pirates manhandled them in every aspect of the game. The second game I took was the Mets. The Mets bounced back from blowing another good performace by Johan Santana to finally take one from the Giants. They need to maintain this to get back into the race in the east. Lets get to the picks for today.
Colorado Rockies -147 over the Florida Marlins
I think I will crusie down the road about 45 miles and go see Jimenez pitch in person. The guy is a beast and just moving here from Denver, I saw him quite a few times last year, but his control was not so great. I thought the price here would be a little higher, but I don't mind paying this. I expect it to go up a little before game time so jump on it early if you are going play it. Jimenez is 15-1 with a 2.20 era this season and I really don't have to go into stats with him because he has been really good. I will say that he has a 1.23 era in his 10 road starts and he is going be really fresh coming off the break. The Marlins send Annibel Sanchez to the mound who had his worst start of the season going 4 innings and giving up 6 runs and 9 hits to the Arizona Diamonbacks. This should be a low scoring affair as both teams have struggled to put up runs over this last stretch. Give me Jimenez and this price any day over the Marlins.
Pittsburgh Pirates and Milwaukee Brewers over 9.5 runs
When, you first look at this line, you think wow these two teams have a total of 9.5. I thought at first this was high, but both teams have been surging on offense and both teams are putting a pitcher on the mound that has not pitched well of late. Chris Cupano is on the mound for the Brewers and is coming off a start where he pitched 3 and 2/3 innings before being pulled. He was moved to the bullpen and is filling in for the injured Doug Davis. He has a lifetime record of 2-6 with a 6.34 era against the Pirates. The Pirates will send to the mound Jeff Karstans. Karstans is 2-4 with a 4.87 this season and in his last start against the Brewers he was rocked. He gave up 4 runs, 5 hits and 6 walks over 5 innings. I see this game being a shootout consider both teams are coming series where they both scored a lot of runs. I use to love Chris Caupano, but since he has had the surgery he has not been the same.
Ok its Monday and a new week so time to get back to making some money.
Good luck all on whatever you decide.
