Does the forecast not call for winds W/SW? If it's W/NW right now and it's going to switch, that would mean the wind will be blowing out later.

I think this means the wind is blowing out but it's not really hard. It needs to be 20 mph. The line is right at 10. What scares me on the under is Blanton in his last 10 starts hit the over and I see no reason he wouldn't get lit today too.

12 is not insignificant either way.... but on a hot humid day 12 mph could make 300 ft fly outs into 330 ft homers. its not too humid today luckily

and pavy the reason I don't see Blanton getting lit up today, is that he is the exact kind of pitcher the cubs can't hit at all this year.... his best pitches are the curve and slider... a lethal combo for the fastball happy cubs....

Blanton is not great, he's not even good.... but he's stuck around with shitty stuff, because he knows how to keep hitters off balance. The Cubs are maybe the worst team in making in bat adjustments as a whole... Colvin can do it at times, Castro can when he's not trying to pull too much, fukudome can when he's not in slump.

yesterday if you noticed... the cubs were tieing off of moyer's fast (slow) ball, because he kept nibbling with his off speed stuff and missing, and got squeezed by the ump. so they were gearing up for 78-81 mph cutters and fastballs...and half the time pulling them way foul.

Blanton's mix in speeds and good curve are enough to keep them at bay today
