If you needed a reason to believe totals are a crapshoot and shouldn't be trusted
Tonight's game is it if you're on the over.
What a joke.

Game is about to go over.
I had the under 7.5 on Stl and Houston on Friday, 2-0 by 7 innings, then back to back jacks by Holliday and Pujols ruined it, 6 runs scored by stl 8th+9th, 8-0 final.

I have Dodgers -6.5... so either me or over backs will be happy by the end of the game.

Just stop betting overs in sports and you will be better off.

I had that, as well as the over on the TB/CLE game on Thursday that was 5-2 in the third and no runs were scored again, and now this one tonight.
This was the first week back in the total pool for me, but I'm back out of it again. 6-0 through 2 and had the over 7.5 and it didn't hit. I know people will grill me for saying this, but playing totals in baseball is about 90% luck. This is fvcking ridiculous.

I hardly ever bet overs. Probably 80% of my total bets are unders in sports.
Again, when it's 6-0 in the 2nd and doesn't go over 7.5, what can you say. When it comes to baseball totals, you either get lucky or you don't.

A lot of bizarre things had to happen for this to stay under.
Just sayin'.

just because things dont always work out the way they should doesnt mean totals are a "crapshoot", bad breaks happen on sides as well as totals...honestly i think you crazy betting any cub total unless it at Wrigley and the wind blowing out......tell me atl/nym under wasnt a pretty easy call to make, several of those a day, do they all work out? of coarse not, doesnt make them bad bets.......

ik wat u guys are saying is frustrating that it didnt go over..but in reality if the cubs make those 2 easy plays that they shouldve made, or 1 of them was a blown call by the ump, this game stays way under....on the hind side if the ump doesnt blow that call silva wouldve still been in the game and it wouldve went over..

look at it this way....if game were reversed & 8 fluke runs scored at the tail end of a scoreless game, every "under" backer would be screaming about taking a bad beat

Couldn't agree more.
I get what you're saying, BANK -- and I'm not saying fluke shit doesn't happen with sides, too -- but it just seems like a lot more weird shit happens with totals than sides. Maybe it's just my own experiences -- I don't know. That Tampa staying under and the Cardinals going over the other day pissed me off enough, now this? In four days?

yea the Cardinal over on fri kinda upset me as i thought i pegged that one, but shit look at some sides this year, cincy has blown a 6 run lead twice in the 9th and had a pitcher carry a perfecto into the 9th and lost, stl blew big leads back to back in Col, just a few weeks ago on espn Lad blew a huge 9th inning lead, for every messed up thing that has happened to a total i promise there a side it has happened to as well..sure if you tell me to pick every total it turns into a "crapshoot" same as sides really, if you selective and really feel you have a edge shouldnt matter by the end you should be ahead on sides and totals......

The thing that bothers me about totals, though, is that they are often determined long after the game is decided. At least with sides, you're typically getting both teams' best efforts because it's based on a win or a loss -- which is all that matters. Totals are tricky because of games like tonight, where both teams basically gave up and put it on cruise control because it was 6-0 after two.
I don't know. I don't seem to have as much of a problem with basketball or football totals -- in fact, a lot of times, I'd rather play a total than a side in those two sports. Sure there are bad beats, but it doesn't seem like there are nearly as many as in baseball. Again, maybe it's just me and my own experiences.

on a lighter note, Holliday is +565 to win the hr derby at 5 dimes....I know im a homer (but im also a honest homer) and i cant really speak for some of the other guys but Holliday has beeen crushing the ball in BP the last few weeks (more than normal) i guess on the field as well as he is hot, but watching him take bp lately has been impressive...may be worth a shot

Do you cap umpires? And check the wind in the parks where wind matters? And cap bullpens? And cap defenses? And cap pitcher vs starting lineup matchups? And cap lefty vs righty matchups?
Totals can be lucrative but it takes an enormous amount of work.
