A lock can be anything, no matter how unlikely. A lock can be Pecos Bill getting laid tomorrow (ok bad example). But you get what Im saying. Time is linear, meaning these events will unfold the same way they will unfold regardless of our actions.

Therefore saying "nothing is a lock" is simply an asinine statement. Theres a lock waiting to unfold in the All Star Game. The winner was the lock. Only difference is I'm not gonna sit here and try to claim the NL is a Lock because frankly I'm not confident enough to do that. The AL has tormented the NL in the mid summer classic for well over a decade now.

While underdogs, have nothing to lose, so to speak, and to a degree, can relax and let the variables unfold while attempting to alter the probability in their favor. Not easy to do, but can be readily accomplished. Figuring out which side has the greater "positive" probability factor is the key to cashing your bet.
