Yesterday was a good day. I went 2-0 on the picks that I posted and went 5-1 all day on other picks. The mets and reds game went as I had thought it would. I did figure the game would be 3-1 mets but the under is the under and I will take that. Josh Johnson once again pitched another gem last night and got the win in a 4-0 game against the dodgers. There is nothing like getting a -125 price on a pitcher of his class. Today, we once again have some day games which are my favorite so lets get started.
Houston Astros -1.5 (even) over the Pittsburgh Pirates
If you would of told me that on July 8th I would be taking the Houston Astros on the minus runline against any team in baseball, I would of given you 5-1 odds and said there is no way. I still can't believe it, but I am. Houston sends ace Roy Oswalt to the mound today against the Pirates. Oswalt pitchd very good in his last start even though it was a loss. He gave up 3 runs and 3 hits over 7 innings asthe Astros scored 0 to give him the same run support he has gotten all year. He is 5-10 on the season, but has a low 3 era. In his career he is 14-7 with a 2.64 era in 26 starts against the pirates. Ohlendorf takes the mound for the pirates. In his last start he was good when he allowed 0 runs against the Phillies for a 2-0 win. That was the first win of the season for him. Before that he has been awful. He was 0-6 with a 4.69 era and 0-8 over his last 16 starts. I guess if he was on any team, but the pirates he would of been sent back to triple AAA. He is 0-5 with a 7.62 against the Astros in his career. Lee and Berkman both seem to be getting on track and the Astros are starting to look like a team that can hit some. I see them handling the Pirates easily as they try to go 6-0 against the pirates this season.
Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angels under 8.5 (even)
This game yesterday was delayed for over 2 hours, which means that the turnaround here is very short. I usually play unders in these type of games. You like to see managers give their starts the day off in these short day games. I have no facts to tell me who is playing and who is not, but even if all play I see this as under. The angels in this series are batting 154 with risp in this series, and they have not been hitting the ball. The White sox have put up some numbers, but it is hard to cover a over by yourself. Santana goes to the mound for the Sox and he has been better. He was scoreless through seven in his last start before giving up 4 runs to KC. In his only start this season against L.A he was awesome and giving up no earned runs through 7. Danks has been better as of late also. In his last start he got the loss, but he only allowed 2 runs in 6 innings. I see both offenses being a little tired here, and the pitchers know they need to go to the distance. I like the under here, and look for the under to move to 9 before game time.
Probably will put a small play on the Marlins as they are streaking some right now and will go with Colorado since they can't seem to lose to the Cardinals no matter the lead the Cardinals get. Good luck today lets go 2-0 again. I also wanted to say thanks to everyone that reads every day and posts responses every day. I like to read these as you know this is a everyday learning buisness and all of us just want to win.
