If you're not good enough to be a starter or, in some cases, a closer you're middle relief. Almost by definition they're going to suck. Often only good for certain matchups. Often not even good for that.Comment -

yeah i understand why they are in the bullpen but if the dodgers and white sox can get solid power arms that can get outs why cant other teams.Comment -

baseball is unpredictable. predicting pens, now thats almost impossible.
i pushed tonight with CIN because a 1-1 tie with NYM. CIN ended up winning 3-1.
i had HOU -1.5 (game). they were tied 3-3 at 5, then HOU broke free to win by 3.
i had CHC/ARZ OV 9 (game) and it did cash, but it took a 9th inning homer otherwise it goes under. But at the end of the 4th it was 3-3 (over).
so i was 2-1-0 for the night and would have been 3-0 if I had played the full game and put my faith in the CIN pen but I just couldn't do it.
...hmm, not sure the point of the story here.
