Not exactly future manager material. Haren's thrown 121 pitches and he's leading off the 7th, so Gibson lets him hit? I know Haren's pretty decent at the plate, but A) he's still not as good as your best pinch hitter and B) he should not be starting a new inning with that kind of pitch count.

You can't go by BA alone.

Like I said, Haren's a good hitter for a pitcher, but still not the best option in that spot.

So he lets his pitcher hit who's leaving the game?

          Wow.

If you don't have a pinch hitter to use in that spot, that's a sad commentary on the state of your team.

dont know if i would agree with that - what is he hitting 400 with 60 ab's. last week he took carpenter out to center.

i dont know what he looked like after 7 inn - but hes not some young kid with an innings limit. hes a reliable veteran with no injury history. i dont have a problem with it so long as he still looked strong after the 7th

NC, you should know that the Dbacks should ride out all of their starting pitchers as long as they can since their bullpen is shit.

                      46 AB's.

Most guys -- even Haren -- don't go much beyond 120 pitches. Moot point, though -- Gibson hit him (he struck out) then pulled him (Heilman came in and did what he does best), so he muffed both calls.

I would let Haren hit compared to the bench. Six doubles, a home run and 7 runs batted in. Not bad. The team is weak though and going nowhere.
