GAME 2 The San Francisco Giants snapped their longest losing streak in three years with their highest-scoring game in five weeks. Cain will take the hill trying to defeat the Rockies for the third straight time in Sunday's series finale at Coors Field.San Francisco (41-39) plated 15 total runs during a seven-game skid -- its longest since June 13-22, 2007 -- before beating the Rockies 11-8 on Saturday. The Giants, who scored their most runs since a 12-1 win over Arizona on May 29, did most of the damage against Ubaldo Jimenez, the favorite to be named the starter for the NL All-Star team, but Cain has had his troubles over the last 2 or 3 starts he has made posting an 0-3 with a 8.22 ERA in his last 3 starts for the Giants. The right-hander has pitched well on the road posting a 3.23 ERA, but has only 2 wins out of 8 starts in hostile territory thus far. Cain has proven he can silence the bats in Colorado this year postng a 2-0 record in both starts against Colorado and has an amazing .55 ERA against them. Lifetime, he is 10-6 with a 2.96 ERA against the Rockies.
The Rockies (43-38) mounted an impressive rally but couldn't hang on Saturday, coming from six runs down to take an 8-7 sixth-inning lead that didn't last. Colorado counters with Jason Hammel (6-3, 4.32), who allowed three runs and seven hits in six innings of Tuesday's 6-3 win at San Diego. Hammel is 5-0 with a 2.01 ERA in his last seven starts after going 1/3 with a 7.52 ERA over his first six. Playing at Coors Feild has been a success for Hammels posting a 5-1 record with a 3.31 ERA.The right-hander was solid against the Giants on June 1, allowing one run and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings of the Rockies' 2-1, 11-inning win. Lifetime Hammels is winless going 0-2 in 5 starts against the Giants but has manageable ERA of just over 3.00.Hammels takes advantage of Cain's struggles not only in his last 3 starts but his road starts as well. Colorado get the win here

GAME 3
Gibson will give the ball to Dan Haren (7-6, 4.56 ERA) in the series finale. Although Haren has a 2.61 ERA in three starts against Los Angeles this season, he has an 0-1 record to show for it due to three total runs of support in those outings. The three-time All-Star's best start of the season came at Dodger Stadium on June 1, when he scattered seven hits in eight scoreless innings of a 1-0, 10-inning loss. The right-hander is winless in his last three starts, and hasn't made four straight starts without a victory since Aug. 25-Sept. 10, 2008. It could be tough for him to end the current skid against the Dodgers. Haren gave up five runs and 10 hits in eight innings Monday, but didn't receive a decision in a 6-5 loss to St. Louis. Lifetime Haren is 4-5 against the Dodgers in 13 starts against them, but has a decent ERA of 3.35.
After Los Angeles (44-36) decided to shut Ramirez down, the team defeated the Diamondbacks 14-1. It was the Dodgers' most-lopsided win of the season and the most runs they'd scored since a 14-6 victory in Cincinnati on April 21. The Dodgers, who remain 3 1/2 games behind NL West-leading San Diego, won for the third time in four games without Ramirez after going 7-10 in their first 17 games without him. Los Angeles counters with Chad Billingsley (6-4, 4.25), who allowed two runs in six innings Monday, when he didn't factor in the decision of a 4-2 win over San Francisco. It was an encouraging outing for Billingsley, who went 0-2 with a 6.41 ERA in his final three starts before being sidelined. Billingsley is 1-0 with a 5.68 ERA in three outings versus the Diamondbacks in 2010. In his last start against them May 31 at home, he allowed four runs while striking out a season-best 11 in eight innings. He received no decision as the Dodgers rallied to win 5-4. Lifetime Billingsly is 8-5 in 16 starts against the Diamondbacks with a 3.83 ERA. But he is only good in these situatons with great run support as Billingsley has an ERA at almost 6.00 against the Diamondbacks this season dispite his winning record. I don't see the Dodgers getting much off Haren. and the Diamondbacks will look for payback from last nights embarrassment

SUNDAY NIGHT GAME The Los Angeles Angels began this weekend ranked among the top scoring teams in the majors, but hits have been at a premium against the Kansas City Royals. The Angels will try to snap out of their offensive funk and avoid being swept for the first time in two months Sunday night against the Royals. However, Los Angeles, which was last swept by the Royals in June 2007, has to feel good about its chances to bounce back with Joel Pineiro (8-6, 4.23 ERA) on the mound.Pineiro is looking to match a career high by winning six straight starts for the first time since June 16-July 13, 2003. He gave up three runs in six innings of a 6-5 win over Texas on Tuesday, and has a 1.78 ERA in his last four starts. Pineiro, though, struggled against the Royals on June 1, giving up six runs and 10 hits in eight innings of a 6-3 loss. He's 0-3 with a 6.35 ERA in his last three starts versus Kansas City. Lifetime he is 4-4 against Kansas City.
Kansas City (36-45) entered this series ranked 25th in the majors with a 4.67 ERA, but has been very impressive on the mound in the first two games. Kyle Davies gave up one run in 7 2/3 innings of a 2-1, 10-inning victory Friday. Bruce Chen was even better Saturday, retiring the first 18 batters before giving up a hit to Erick Aybar to lead off the seventh en route to a 4-2 win.The Royals, who have a 2.41 ERA in their last nine games, will hand the ball to Anthony Lerew (1-1, 3.63), who is coming off his first major league win in 17 career starts. He limited the White Sox to one run and three hits over six innings in a 3-1 victory Monday. The right-hander is making his first appearance against the Angels. Kansas City will get the sweep here and continue to surprise th experts
