What's the deal with home teams losing in extra innings?

Last 3-4 games I bet on that went into extra innings the road team won them all. Rays just won, angels lost to rockies in extras, couple of others but usually the home team wins atleast I thought.

I watched the Rays game on MLB network. Could not believe how tight the strike zone was. Pitches literally right down the middle, belt high were called balls.
