Enough with "traditionalists"/"purists" spewing bulls--t about the old-school way.

If you can FIX a bad call, you FIX a bad call. PERIOD.

In this particular case, you would have given a man, a team, a fanbase, and a sport a huge historical event that all of the above DESERVED!!!!

(That's not even to mention that poor Jim Joyce would be able finish his career in peace.)

Obviously they'll have to figure out how to govern it and when to institute it, but for close plays at bases, they should have it. I mean in this case, think about it: It would have taken all of two minutes, and you correctly give a guy his fukking perfect game! What could be wrong with that?!?!

In the future, I can see them having computer chips in the ball, gloves, and bases to help make these calls.

This is an absolutely terrible situation. Gallaraga had a perfect game taken away by one of the worst calls in the history of the game. Not only this is that bad enough but i dont believe it will get the press it deserves because there have already been two perfect games this month.

That's not a good part of the game. The human element is supposed to be the players, not the calls.
They should institute a system something like college football where every play is reviewed upstairs and only on debatable calls should they be able to overturn the call on the field.

Besides the clear evidence on replay that he was out, the umpire himself admitted that it was a blown call:

"I just cost that kid a perfect game. I thought he beat the throw. I was convinced he beat the throw, until I saw the replay. It was the biggest call of my career" - Joyce

There is just no way to justify this one, it was clearly a blown call, one of the worst I've ever seen.

Yes, you just won yourself the Biggest Douche Bag of the Year Award. You stated in your first post if you "Watch it over and over again the ball was not in full possession when he hit the bag". Then in your next post you said you only watched the call once and that you were going to "BRB" and look at it now. Biggest fail posts in SBR History. Congrats atleast you made history today and not Galarraga

Seen play on Sportscenter thats a pretty bad call. Would of been crazy to have three perfect games in one month. Feel for Detroit and Galarraga would of been nice to add that achievement for both.

For a veteran ump like Joyce, he needs to go back to school. He was watching the Tigers 1st baseman catching and throwing the ball instead of focusing on the 1st base bag were the potential call would be made. I feel sorry for Gallaraga getting robbed of a perfect game. It would be unprecedented to have 3 perfect games in 1 whole MLB season, let alone done in a span of a month, and we still have a lot of baseball action left...

I think we are all missing the point which is Galarraga handled it with the most class of ANY athlete ever. After the call was made and in the interviews after the game. Every athlete in every sport should learn from this kid. He will be remember more for this, then a perfect game. IMO

True, and he will go down in history as the only major league pitcher to pitch a perfect game while recording 28 outs along the way, at least in my heart and in my mind. You're a very classy guy Armando!
