Actually, he did it so that Jimenez would start off the next inning, thereby starting the third inning with one out. Didn't work out though.

the announcers mentioned the same thing. im sorry, but tim lincecum has to go after the #8 hitter. hes one of the top 5 pitchers in the game and has to attack there. huge advantage having the pitcher lead off an inning.

Barmes is hitting 211/266/354 this year; and 190/227/429 in the last two weeks - no reason he shouldn't be able to get him out.
