    Disturbing Numbers
I was looking up Kevin Millwood's numbers against the Jays and saw on April 11, he allowed 4 runs, 1 earned, while giving up 3hr's. How is this possible? The fact that he gave up 3 hr's should mean 3 earned at least. The fourth could have reached on an error so being driven in isn't earned, but how are the other 3 not earned?

If an error is committed that should have been the 3rd out all runs scored after that point; regardless of how, are unearned -

Gotcha. Makes sense, but at the same time it kind of downplays the fact that a HR was hit. 2-down and a fly ball's dropped, then the next 4 batters hit HR's should be counted as earned, but who am I to decide?

that's the way they've always computed era.... and if you ever have pitched at any level, you'd understand.... nothing worse than giving a team an extra out in an inning.....

I have pitched before. I never worried about what my stats were, though. I had other things to think about. I completely understand why it's computed that way; but on the other hand, I can see why it would be computed differently. It's harder for me to figure a pitchers worth when he gives up two jacks after an error but isn't charged with an earned run.
