    MLB 2010 Totals Only
    Totals Only:

I have started two different threads today and i would like to narrow my plays to totals only with this thread to allow me time to wager and post the types of plays I am most comfortable with. Extensive write-ups will be included as i do not expect someone to tail without solid information to verify the play. I use very in dept statistical information and everything Iuse to solidify my play will be included in each write-up. All my plays will be posted the night prior to the games. Tomorrow's plays will be posted later tonight. Best of luck!

    05/25

    7:05pm Oakland (D. Braden, NPERA=2.66; FIP=3.71) @ Baltimore (J. Guthrie, NPERA=3.32; FIP=4.27) Under 8, -114

The Athletics pitching staff has not allowed a run in the last 20 innings over a 3 game span including 6 hits in their final 2 games of their weekend homestand. D. Braden in his career is 5-1 with a 1.57 ERA vs. the Orioles including a 4-2 win at Oakland on April 16th. J. Guthrie has not been to bad himself posting a 2-0 record with a 2.18 ERA over his last 2 starts. The right-hander limited Oakland to 2 runs--one earned--in 6 2/3 innings on April 17th. Both starting pitchers are due for a ERA correction based on their FIP numbers but with that said this game should still be under the posted total of 8.

                  05/25

                  4:10pm Boston (J. Lester, NPERA=2.83; FIP=3.24) @ Tampa Bay (J. Shields, NPERA=3.78; FIP=3.46) Under 8, -120

Simply put both starters combined NPERA and combined FIP are more than 1 point lower than the posted total which makes this total a automatic play for me. What this means is if they both pitch to their NPERA thus far or if they pitch to their FIP this total should be 7 or under.
