new to baseball....how come the inning wasn't over when Chase Utely struck out on the wild pitch?

BEcause on strike 3 if its a wild pitch, the hitter can run to first base to try to beat the tag or throw

the ball got passed the catcher on the 3rd strike thus, keeping it in play and enabling the batter to advance...despite striking out...
