    Explanation of Win - PLEASE
Ok guys, I have been watching Baseball my entire life and something baffled me last night.

So, top of the 7th Marte comes in and the Yankees are down.

Bottom 7 Yankees come in and A-Rod hits grand slam - Yanks take the lead.

    8th inning Joba comes in....

HOW does Joba get the win in this game? I honestly can careless who gets the W because a W is a W but I am seriously confused on how he got the win!!

Marte is god awful but in this case he should have gotten the win unless I am missing something....

New York was winning 3-2 when the the seventh inning started. Marte came in for Burnett and Marte gave up 2 runs and the Twins now lead 4-3. Marte actually gets a Blown Save here for giving up the lead. Chamberlain comes in the eighth when the Yankees actually have the lead again so he is the pichter on record that is holding the current lead so he recieves the win.

From the Rule Book to help you out some more.

The official scorer shall not credit as the winning pitcher a relief pitcher who is ineffective in a brief appearance, when at least one succeeding relief pitcher pitches effectively in helping his team maintain its lead. In such a case, the official scorer shall credit as the winning pitcher the succeeding relief pitcher who was most effective, in the judgment of the official scorer.
Rule 10.17(c) Comment: The official scorer generally should, but is not required to, consider the appearance of a relief pitcher to be ineffective and brief if such relief pitcher pitches less than one inning and allows two or more earned runs to score (even if such runs are charged to a previous pitcher). Rule 10.17(b) Comment provides guidance on choosing the winning pitcher from among several succeeding relief pitchers.
        (d) A losing pitcher is a pitcher who is responsible for the run that gives the winning team a lead that the winning team does not relinquish

I knew he blew the save - but I didn't know it is actually up to the scorer to decide who got it.

          Thanks!

Why not? Marte gave up the lead and his team was losing after he finished the top of the seventh. If the Yankees don't come back he gets a Blown Save and the loss. They only way he would get the win is if he continued to pitch the 8th inning and he would have got a win and a blown save.

Marte was pitcher in the top of the frame, Yanks score in bottom of fram. I think that's how it went down.
