MARINERS at +5000 to win WORLD SERIES
This play can be found out there any where from +4000 to +5500, but I just got it at +5000.

Now I know at first this sounds like a joke. The Mariners are in last place and just came off an 8 game losing streak. But really I think this is a great play at 50 to 1 odds, as I seriously think the Mariners will get this turned around in a big way.

Obviously the strength of this team is its starting pitching. No team with Cliff Lee, Felix Hernandez, and Doug Fister in the starting rotation should be +5000 to win the world series one month into the season. The line shows that the oddsmakers have written the Mariners off as having about the worst chance of any team in MLB of winning the World Series. That is nuts with this starting rotation.

Now of course, the offense has been pathetic. But I do feel that this offense is much better than what it has shown, and it will improve. Also, the team is making moves to improve its run production. The hitting coach was recently fired and replaced with the Tacoma Raniers hitting coach, who had done very well in Tacoma.

Also, there is talk of a trade already and just bringing in one more capable hitter could really spark this offense. The Mariners do have Suzuki who even this season is hitting at .331. Franklin Guterriez and Jack Wilson are also both hitting above the .300 mark. I think we all know that Chone Figgins will end up hitting much better than his current .188 BA. I also think Lopez and Griffey will contribute a lot more.

The fact is that this offense was hitting the ball for a while and scoring some runs. They did temporarily move into first place a couple weeks ago. Then they hit thaat 8 game losing skid playing some of the best teams in the AL and scoring only like 2 runs a game during that stretch.

The Mariners play in the weakest division in all of baseball. As bad as they have done this year, they are currently 4 games out of first place. This is not a division that is going to require 95 wins to take first place. I think an 86-76 record probably wins this division, and the Mariners should surely get 86 wins.

Once you get into the playoffs, its an entirely different type of game, as the Mariners would be able to go to the 3 man rotation. So a rotation of Lee, Hernandez, and Fister would make the Mariners a formidable opponent for anyone. Yes, even the Yankees or D Rays. This team is a lot like the DBacks years ago. They couldnt score for anything, but they had Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling so 2 or 3 runs a game offense is all they needed.

This play rests on the offense getting better. For sure, the Mariners cant do anything unless that happens. But who really thinks the Mariners keeep scoring 1-2 runs a gaame. No one IMO. The offense will get better, and I think when it does this is going to be the team to beat in the AL West with this starting rotation.

Gutsy move. While I agree that the AL West is anyone's game, the M's have a lot of holes in their lineup.

Just the starting pitching is so good I think they get close to 90 wins and thatn will win the AL west. Then when the playoffs start, they would be no higher than +1000 with that starting lineup.

3 man rotation Lee, Hernandez, and Fister ( hope he keeps pitching like he has ). If anything this could be bet off for a larger profit then the current +400 they are to win AL West.

I think I will be betting on them to win Al West at +400 too.

I have a 100 wager that they win less than 83.5 games.

              Feeling pretty good about it.

Every team in the AL West has problems. The Mariners just lost 8 straight and are 4 games out. I think the Mariners will end up winning the AL West.
