    Beckett -200 for game one
What are your thoughts for game one? I am taking my chances with Colorado.

I've taken Boston -1.5 their last 3 games. No reason for me to stop.

Beckett was roughed up by Colorado at Fenway when the Rockies took 2 of 3 in the regular season. But this is the playoffs, so I wouldn't bet against Beckett.

I thought they would've opened him higher since he has reached god-like status during this year's coverage of the playoffs.

Beckett is currently -196 at Pinny. That's a lot of chalk against Francis but it seems like a good wager.

Jeez, a team that has won 21 out of 22 (I believe) getting +185 money. If I wasn't a huge Sox fan my whole life, I would look very strongly at Colorado here.

As odd as it sounds when talking about a team that has won 20 out of 21, I actually think it is the RED SOX that have the better momentum right now, coming back on relatively short rest after coming back from 3-1 down, while the week off could not have come at a worst time for Colorado.

In the end it all comes down to talent, and I simply feel the Red Sox have much more of it.

Do they? Honestly I think you are underestimating the Rockies. I don't know where they have "MUCH" more of it.

                  usckingsfan,

I just think the National League was even weaker than usual this year, and outside of Francis, I think the rest of the Colorado starters will be exposed by this Boston lineup. As for Francis, he has the misfortune of being matched up with the hottest pitcher this post-season in Game 1.

I have to admit though, there is no way I lay that price in Game 1, although the UNDER is worth a look.

Finally, my judgment is not at all clouded by the fact that I have Boston +152 to win the series.

And no, I am not planning to hedge at this time.

I'm all over Francis and COL at that price of +190 right now. He's outdueled Brandon Webb & Cole Hamels already in the post season and while Beckett is in another world it seems right now, I'll take any chance I have with a team at 2-1 odds in a World Series game. Shoot getting +1.5 at -115 is a pretty nice deal too if you think the Rox have a shot.

Any of the brilliant minds out there have any previous records of some of the lines in World Series? Particularly in ones where the common perception seems to be David vs. Goliath?

Say FLA vs. NYY in 2003
or ARI vs. NYY in 2001?

I'll happily bet COL as a huge dog every game in this series if that's where the lines fall until this series is proven to be a total mis-match because on paper, the gap isn't as wide as I think most are making it out to be.

Maybe there is a little bit of value in taking Colo +195, but not enough for me to bet it.

Beckett (3.27) > Francis (4.22) + Sox at home + Sox prolly the better and more experienced team = 2:1 fav. seems reasonable.
                            Just my thoughts.

If someone would put a gun at my head, i would prolly go with the Sox - even at this price.

Colorado is the play here. They have nothing to lose and will be more relaxed. I wouldn't bet against a team that hasn't lost a game in quite some time.

                                Zeroed,

Although I agree with the Sox, it is unfair to compare ERAs, as Francis would probably be 3.22 at sea level.

It's Colorado or no bet... There should be a rule in baseball capping, never lay -200 or more in any game... No matter what!!!!

I agree, taking Colorado +190. This is the world series and getting almost 2 to 1 on your money seems like the way to go.

Colorado knocked beckett around earlier this year and the rockies are well rested.

Thing is, it would be better to get MORE than +100 one way, so at least you would be guaranteed a profit if Sox don't win by 1.
