Sawyer's MLB Play Of The Day 4/29 Thu
    REDS VS ASTROS

Hi baseball fans. Cincinnatti Reds and Houston Astros will meet in the 3rd game of their series at Minute Maid Park tonight while Reds are leading the series 2-0.

It's a do-or-die game for Astros in order to avoid sweep. Ok, I know Astros are not a good team (even at home) but Cincinnatti Reds are not a superb road team either. Usually, I don't like to back home teams below .500 winning percentage but this game is an expception since Astros will have Roy Oswalt on the mound. Astros are 10-3 in Oswalts last 13 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance.

What's so special about Roy Oswalt? Man, he owns Reds, simple as that! Roy Oswalt is 23-1 in his career versus Reds! In addition, Astros are 7-3 in Oswalts last 10 starts during game 3 of a series.

Houston Astros Ace has impressive numbers so far this season with 1.00 WHIP and 2.42 ERA. Roy Oswalt is 0.85 WHIP and 1.80 ERA in his last 3 starts. Under is 3-0 in his last 3 starts. Astros are 2-1 in Oswalt's last 3 starts. In addition, Astros are 6-2 in Oswalts last 8 starts as a favorite.

On the other side, Cincinnatti Reds will give the ball to Bronson Arroyo. Arroyo was terrible in his last outings, going 1.67 WHIP and 10.80 ERA in his last 3! He's 1.39 WHIP and 7.43 overall. Reds are 4-0 in Arroyos last 4 starts vs. Astros but Arroyo's job won't be easy this time since he will face Oswalt as opposing pitcher. Reds are 3-7 in Arroyos last 10 starts as a road underdog.

Reds are 2-8 in Arroyos last 10 starts during game 3 of a series.

I know Houston offence is not impressive lately but they can score against Bronson Arroyo in my opinion. In addition, there's an improvement in Astros offence. Houston Astros scored only 2 runs against Reds on 4/27 but they scored 4 runs yesterday, LoL!

Just kidding of course. Astros need to score some runs in order to win. They should give Oswalt some run support. Oswalt's performance may be not be enough alone for victory..

Let's go deep with stats. The Houston Astros are ranked 24 in hitting, with a batting average of .242. The Astros are averaging 3.3 runs per game this season with an OPS of .622. On the other side, The Cincinnati Reds are ranked 23 in hitting, with a batting average of .243. The Reds are averaging 4.7 runs per game this season with an OPS of .703. The Houston Astros are ranked 14 in pitching, with an earned run average of 3.94. Opponents are hitting .267 for average, and have a .324 on base percentage and .267 OPS against the Astros this season. On the other side, The Cincinnati Reds are ranked 29 in pitching, with an earned run average of 5.73. Opponents are hitting .273 for average, and have a .354 on base percentage and .273 OPS against the Reds this season.

I know Reds are 13-3 in the last 16 meetings and 6-1 in the last 7 meetings in Houston but Astros have a good chance to avoid sweep tonight specially when they got Oswalt on the mound.

May the luck be with you, Good luck!

    Pick: Astros -157

Under may be the better play, IMHO. Oswalt may stifle the Reds, but not sure if he'll be backed with enough runs.

Guys, Under/Overs are very tricky in baseball. Luck factor is very high since they can score 6-7 runs in a single inning, sometimes 13, LoL! Better stick with side bets in bases..Leaning Pit-Lad Over 8 though..

                  NBA Totals are easier..

But I'll skip NBA today, lines are very close. (I'm expecting 201-204 points in Blazers vs Suns game and 193-195 points in Spurs vs Mavs game)

Pirates vs Dodgers Over 8 is very very very tempting..
(but don't forget what I said above about baseball totals)

Yes Sawyer you are right but the pirates have the worst pitching breakdowns in the league so wouldn't this put the odds in the favor of the over plus they finally got their own bats thumping again in the last 2 games

Gave you some points for the write up. I already won my game today w/ St Louis.

I was going with Houston too.

My money management is an A B C bet in the same day. If I win the first bet (A), I quit
for the day. If I lose, bet the second (B), lose, (C). Next day, start over.
                                Preserve profits, BB.

Oddsmakers can price this matchup in their sleep, brah. Oswalt's like 3 days older than dirt and these guys face off like a dozen times every year going way back. Really not too hard for them to botch this line. You post good pix, though, so best of luck either way.
