Penny will take the hill for the Cardinals and try and a void their first 3 game sweep in the Bay-Area, since July of 01. He has pitched 7 innings in each of his last 3 starts holding his opponents to 4 total runs. Penny's last start against Arizona , on Monday, Penny gave up 2 runs off 8 hits with 5 Ks in a 4-2 win, But run support has been an issue with St. Louis when Penny's on the hill. and that is something that didn't come easy in the first 2 games, Furthermore, Penny should be up to this challenge against the Giants considering he is 5-0 witha 1.62 era in his last 7 games at AT&T prl since 07. This will be Penny's first start against the Giants since 08 when he beat them twice while limiting them to 1 run off 5 hits in 11 2/3 innings.
Matt cain will counter Penny in this match-up and runs may not come any easier for the cardinals who is 1-0 with a 1.35 era in 2 starts against the Cardinals, in 09. After recording a career best 14 victories last season Cain is still seeking his first win of the 2010 season. All 3 of Cain's starts have been quality starts, but like Penny has had issues with run support. The Giants have had scoring issues for the past week plating 11 runs in their last 6 games. I like Penny's chances today to prevent the sweep in San Fransisco.

The Baves' sputtering line-up has been the primary reason for their 4 game losing streak. Atlanta has totalled 6 runs during their skid, batting .209 overall and .129 with RISP on the losing stretch.Things could get even worst for Atlanta as Chipper Jones has a right hip injury on Saturday and said he could miss several games. Tommy Hanson will take the hill for the Braves and try to not only break the Braves out of their slump but prevent a sweep in New York. His season has started ok in desent form going 1-1 with an era of 2.81. his last start was not as impresive going 4.2 innings and giving up only 2 earned runs but was unable to go deeper due to a high pitch count of 102 pitches. The young right-hander is holdig opponents toa .237 average and has 18ks in 16 innings. Hanson has faced the Mets only once in his early career and threw 7 shut out innings giving up no earned runs off only 3 hits and fanned 8 Mets batters. A sweep for New York would be escpecially statisfying for New York as the Braves won the final 8 meetings between these 2 teams last year. Pelfry will oppose the young-right-hander. He is having a great start to the season posting a 3-0 recordwith an era of .86. The crafty right-hander allowed 3 hits in 7 innings on tuesday's 4-0 win over the Cubs, sxtnding his string of consecutive scorless innings to 19. Pelfry, However, is 2-5 with a 6.09 era in 9 starts against the Braves. Brain Mccain is responsible for most of that damage to elfry as he is 12-27 (.444) with 5 doubles and a homer off Pelfry. New York has its 2 touted hitters in the line-up tonight Ike Davis who is hitting .350 through his first 5 mojor league games, and outfeilder Jason bay is hitting .368 in that stretch. But Bay is the only touted batter that has faced Hanson and he has 1 hit out of 4 apperances against him. A good spot for the Braves to get back on track here and take advantage of Hanson on the hill and Pelfry who struggles against the Braves who has feasted off him.
