the only thing I hate worse than Francona is stupid Boston redsox fans. Why bring in your closer in the 8th inning when no one was on base. Don't even get me started on Francona, he is one of the worst managers in baseball.

Because it's a must-win playoff game, Papelbon's the best reliever in the game, there's a day off between each game in the series, meaning Papelbon will still be available Sunday, and Okajima already threw 24 pitches and has only recently returned from being shut down due to fatigue. Anything else? Get a clue.

Yeah but you can expect him to do that because he does not use Okajima for more than 3 outs any longer (has said they won't for months) and has taken him out a few times in the past couple months with the exact same circumstances.
Here he had already got 4 outs. I'm not saying I agree with it but thats how they've been doing it. Its happened already this year in a tied game with the same circumstances too.
Its odd, I don't know.

I get it and it's flat out dumb and almost cost them the game. Hopefully I am wrong though for today because I took the Red Sox.

I admit the Yankees suck and looks like they are going to choke again in the postseason. There is not much to say with a lineup like that and they only score 4 runs in 20 innings.

This umpire is horrible, probably the worst I've seen all year. So inconsistent.....I'm not saying that as a biased RedSox fan, as that strike 2 call on Cabrera was ludicrous. The entire game I'm quite sure the players on both squads must just be guessing what the call behind them is going to be.....

FWIW, I agree with you that Francona's a poor manager, I just can't say I disagree with this particular decision.

Good luck with your Red Sox play. It's going to be tough for the Halos to do anything offensively w/ Vlad out of the game. Hopefully the Sox can do something against K-Rod here in the 9th.

As for the Yanks, I still think they win the next 2 in the Bronx and force a 5th game.
