Friday's Front Page Picks (Sep 28)
Back Detroit Tigers +110 at Chicago White Sox

    Game Time: 09/28/2007 08:11 PM -
By: LT Profits Sports Group | who2beton.com

Kenny Rogers has dominated the White Sox, allowing either no earned runs or one earned run in five of his last six starts against them. He gets the call as an underdog.

The Detroit Tigers have to be disappointed about not going back to the playoffs, but they have surprisingly not let that affect their play lately, and they get the call with Kenny Rogers as a dog vs. the lowly Chicago White Sox.

Ever since getting eliminated from playoff contention, the Tigers have won their last two games by scored of 8-0 and 9-4! Rogers always gives them a chance to win, as Detroit is now a remarkable 25-8 as a team in the last 33 starts he has made on grass. Rogers has also amazingly allowed one earned run or less in five of his last six starts vs. the White Sox.

Now the reason that the Tigers are underdogs here is the fast that the pitching of Javier Vazquez has been one of the few Chicago bright spots this year, as he is 14-8 with an impressive 3.79 ERA.

Still, his teams are just 3-4 in the seven starts he has made against the Tigers, and we look for that to continue tonight.

    Free Pick: Tigers +110

    Zambrano, Cubs -131 at Reds

    Game Time: 09/28/2007 07:10 PM -
    By: Michael Alexander | 10starpicks.com

Crazy Charlie Zambrano is back on track and the Cubs can smell a rare postseason appearance. Chalk tonight's game up to Chicago when they meet the Reds in Cincinnati.

The Chicago Cubs play their final series of the regular season when they travel to Cinciniati to take on the Reds. After their loss last night, the Cubs dropped to 83-76 but still maintained a 2-game lead over the Brewers in the NL Central. A win tonight combined with a loss for Milwaukee will put the Cubs into the playoffs as the division champs.

Tonight they will send ace Carlos Zambrano to hill looking for his 18th win of the season. After struggling a few weeks back, Zambrano seems to have turned it around going 2-1 with a very good 2.33 ERA in his last three starts. Zambrano has excelled on the road this season going 11-4 with a 3.26 ERA. Cincinnati has struggled versus right-handed starters going 49-54.

The Reds, playing out the season, look to spoil the Cubs' quest for a playoff spot. The Reds have lost five in a row and sit 12 games in back of the Cubs. So far this season they have split games versus the Cubs at home going 3-3. Cincinnati will counter with veteran Bronson Arroyo who will be making his 34th start of the season. On the year, Arroyo is only 9-14 with a 4.22 ERA. Lifetime versus the Cubs he is only 4-5 while his team lost two of three this season.

Supporting Angles: Zambrano is 10-0 (+10.0 Units) against the moneyline as a road favorite of -125 to -150 over the last two seasons and 22-9 (+12.6 Units) against the line in road games in games played on a grass field over the last two seasons. Zambrano is 11-2 (+9.5 Units) against the moneyline in road games after giving up no more than one earned runs in last outing over the same two season span.

Zambrano looks to have regained his earlier season excellence and the Cubs can smell the playoffs. I'm taking the Cubs in this one.

    Free Pick: Cubs -131

NY Mets -1½ vs. Florida Marlins

      Game Time: 09/28/2007 07:10 PM -
      By: Vernon Croy | 10starpicks.com

The Mets have lost four straight and dropped into a tie for the NL East with the Phils. Look for New York to get back on track tonight at home with Oliver Perez facing the Marlins.

There is solid value here with the Mets who need to win with Oliver Perez (15-9 ERA 3.32) on the mound.

Perez has owned Florida this season with an ERA of just 2.89 over 18.2 innings pitched. Opposing batters are hitting just .218 against him when he has pitched at home this season and he is 8-4 at home with an ERA of just 3.20.

When the Marlins have lost on the road they have lost by two or more runs six of their last seven defeats. I look for Perez to pitch deep into this game Friday night so the Mets bullpen will not be a factor here.

      Free Pick: Mets -1½ (+100)

Play Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox Under 9

        Game Time: 09/28/2007 08:10 PM -
By: Jimmy the Moose | sportspic.com

The starting pitchers both trend to the Under tonight on Chicago's South Side. Play the Tigers and White Sox to keep the final tally below nine runs in this one.

The under is a profitable 13-6 in Detroit's last 19 road games. In their last 10 games vs. a team with a losing record, the Under is 8-2. The under is 43-18-2 in the Tigers' last 63 games as a dog of +110 to +150. In Kenny Rogers' last 12 starts as a dog, the Under is 7-3-2.

The Under is 8-3 in Chicago's last 11 games vs. a team with a winning record and 5-2 in their last seven games vs. a left-handed starter. The Under is 14-6-1 in Javier Vazquez's last 21 home starts. The teams have played under the total in 13 of their last 17 meetings in Chicago. Play the Under.

        Free Pick: Tigers-White Sox Under 9 (-105)

SF Giants +105 to keep Los Angeles Dodgers skidding

          Game Time: 09/28/2007 10:40 PM -
By: LT Profits Sports Group | who2beton.com

The Dodgers have called it a year, going a dismal 1-10 in their last 11 games. The Giants also have the hotter pitcher in Correia, so they get the call as a small underdog.

This series between the San Francisco Giants and the reeling Los Angeles Dodgers is the last series for Barry Bonds in a Giant uniform, and we would not be surprised if he does something magical this weekend.

The Bonds issue aside, the Giants also have the hotter starting pitcher tonight. Kevin Correia has now allowed three runs or less in 10 consecutive starts, and his last outing may have been his best yet, as he tossed seven scoreless innings at Cincinnati while allowing only five hits.

David Wells looked like he was washed up with the Padres earlier this season, but he actually turned in a couple of nice outing soon after signing with the Dodgers. However, he has now reverted back to his poor form, as Wells has allowed 10 earned runs and 17 hits in just 9.2 innings over his last two starts!

Finally, the Dodgers look like they have packed it in for the year, as they are 1-10 in their last 11 games. We do not expect them to suddenly show some enthusiasm this weekend.

          Free Pick: Giants +105
