If I had that kind of bread I would most likely only put 5 large as my stake and keep the rest but I dont have that kind of dough although on 4 0r 5 cc's I could match if they were not filled.

hedging parlays

I still don't think this parlay will hit. Angels will cost me.

I haven't bet a parlay in maybe a year. But a month ago I signed up with a book (rather not say which) that was often behind the line movement on several major sports. So I hit a 6 of 8 system for $6k (risk $600ish), and was a play away from collecting 20k - ended up winning 7 of 8 plays.

Next week I lose every parlay - a mix of 2 of 4, 6 of 7, 5 of 8. I just hit 50% of my plays, and we know that's bad for a degenerate who can't stick to straight bets lol.

So yesterday I win another system bet, this time 5 of 6 (f u dallas mavericks!), plus 3k, but lose $500 of that hedging my final play.

This got me thinking. Would I be better off if every game I ever put in a system/parlay combo bet, would play simultaneously, giving me no chance of hedging it? (let's just pretend that live/inplay betting isn't an option)

I know for sure I lost twice hedging my last two parlays. Although I was a happy man I lost them - since I hedge for only 33% of parlay payout, or less - I could hardly remember when I last lost a parlay but won the 'final game saver bet'.

So as I considered my history, I decided against any type of hedging in the future. I only bet parlays for amounts that are inconsequential to me (it looks like $3k is just your regular 'one unit' so to speak), and to win amounts that aren't life changing And I never hedge.

Yes, I probably didn't bet enough parlays in my lifetime (and haven't lost enough on that final game as you have). But... if one of the afternoon games loses... the parlay is dead... we just move on to looking at the evening card, right? Why should the final game be treated any differently? I'm pretty sure you are now starting to second-guess yourself on the angels game. I know I would have with $88k on the line. But again, that money means a lot less to you than most people who lurk/post here - including myself.

Since you exclusively bet at the Greek (their odds aren't exactly competitive), I guess you aren't the type of bettor who looks to push every tiny edge . But hedging is certainly a -EV long-term strategy. So unless you rely on this payout to pay bills, or bet for the rest of the season, whatever... I would root for you to do the right thing.
