So your handicapping is based purely on how much bacon the pitcher eats?

anyone who disregards CC isn't very bright. He started slow last year, but he's got filthy stuff and should win 20 this year. by the same logic, roger clemens was fat. I guess 7 cy young's don't mean anything, just that he's fat and will lose

have you watched since 1990? the days of fat guys like Cecil Fielder are coming to an end. Pitchers and first basemen can get away with it, sort of. However, within the next 5-10 years Prince Fielders won't be worth the money as they hit 40+ homers strike out 180 times and then hit the Injury Reserve for 60% of their remaining 5 seasons

Good question. I'd guess that C.C. (so far) is good enough that nobody is going to tell him to drop 20lbs. Although it will definitely be a burden on him later in life (unless he does HGH a la Roger Clemens) He's like 27 right now, he has about 3-5 years left before his weight becomes an issue.

Tom House (former pitching coach for the Texas Rangers, and Nolan Ryan credits him for extending his MLB career 5 years) has designed software that uses the pitchers delivery to determine how long he will last based on his mechanics. It'd be pretty sweet if we could access any results of MLB pitchers, might give us an edge somewheres

They really should do a biggest loser for baseball. CC, Prince and Sandoval would lead the way.

Pitchers and first basemen can get away with it, sort of. However, within the next 5-10 years Prince Fielders won't be worth the money as they hit 40+ homers strike out 180 times and then hit the Injury Reserve for 60% of their remaining 5 seasons
It's a shame baseball doesn't have an injury reserve.
