In your opinion, what is the best way to make money/gamble?

Please don't say, "Bet on the better team", "bet on the home team", try to make it a legit, well thought response. Lets get a decent thread going!

To me, the best way to make money betting on sports is to 1) bet to win in the long-term, 2) flat-bet, 3) manage your money (set goals), 4) Trust yourself, 5) Dont let the monster that is addiction overtake you.

The man who follows these 5 rules more efficiently is the man who has the highest ROI

I"m going to have to agree that those are some good rules.

I always make sure I have done extensive research on a game before I toss around my money just because someone posted it as their play. Also, if something looks way too good to be true (eg, Halladay v. the Nationals @ -130), stay away. Better to not bet at all than betting and second guessing yourself

I agree with all those, and try to abide by those 5. (The 5th one is kinda hard to handle though.)

if you can hit 40% of underdogs you should make money. im going to try and focus on underdogs and runlines this yr. i know that 88% or so of games the fav wins by 2 or more or the underdog wins that game outright. so only 12% of times the fav wins by 1.
