The price is ridiculous. You are GIVING over 3/2 for Philly to win the East? They are 3/1 to win the N.L. Pennant, so they should be at least even money to win the East. Granted the East is the worst division in the NL, but still, all it takes is an injury, and good-bye -165. Never give odds in a futures wager. This is how the books clean up on them.

I don't think the nl east is worst division in the nl but do agree with your injury assessment that could ruin this wager. Phils are -157 on pinnacle to win division. A key injury or several minor injuries on phils could hamper this wager and the Braves might win one for the gipper.(Bobby Cox's last season)

Diehard Phillies fan here.....This is a tough call at 3-2. The Phils are obviously very talented and should compete for the East, however the Marlins and possibly even the Braves could sneak up on us. The Marlins have a lot of talent, and their young pitching staff should be even stronger this year.

As far as the Phillies are concerned, they will rely a ton on Halladay. An injury there would be devastating. Hamels has completely lost his 2008 form. Blanton and Happ should be very steady throughout the year, but neither are spectacular. At least the offense should continue its stellar performance. Werth is in a contract year and should be huge.

One thing I can promise you, the Mets and Nationals won't be a threat. Every year the media gives the Mets way too much credit. That core group of players has NEVER been good, yet hype and bs get Mets fans excited every year.

Go Phils. I think they can do it.

10 units and having to wait 6 months to recoup your money scare me away from that bet. Plus 1650 to win 1k? Sure Halladay is going to win them 20-22 games, but I don't see them clinching this year.

i made this wager at the greek. i dont like tying money up 6 months either but i expect the phillies to be so well ahead of the division by the all star break and by that time odds will be -200 or more. -165 is a steal for a wager that should be -190

I really like the Phils but Doc cannot carry the team and they got rid of lee.
Hamels is a bum and happ is not that great.
If anything happens along the way to utley or rollins or any of the other big boppers they could be up shit creek.
If they stay healthy and had kept lee with doc I'd say they would have a 95percent chance of a world series win.

I'm a diehard met fan and I would love for this to be true. Unfortunately, the mets have zero chance this year and the braves always contend. Add Hanson for a full season, a healthy Hudson, Medlen and Heyward to that team and they are fully retooled with a new young core.

Yeh, crunching the numbers tells me the same thing...............I took them @ +290 for NL pennant, can always back some off if I want to before playoffs, also.
