Garciaparra says no to yankees and signs with LA
The Los Angeles Dodgers are slowly becoming the West Coast version of the Red Sox after Nomar Garciaparra agreed in principle to an incentive-laden one-year deal.

Garciaparra, who still needs to take a physical and finalize contract details, will likely play first base for the Dodgers, ESPN's Peter Gammons reported. The deal has a base salary of $6 million and could be worth as much as $8 million, the New York Post reported.

The 32-year-old Garciaparra also considered the New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians and Houston Astros before those teams were told by Garciaparra's agent, Arn Tellum, of his choice to join the Dodgers.

Garciaparra and Tellem met with Dodgers executives Thursday, and Garciaparra and his wife, former soccer star Mia Hamm, visited Dodger Stadium on Friday. Garciaparra and Hamm live in suburban Manhattan Beach.

Garciaparra could also play the outfield with the Dodgers. He played mostly third base after returning to the Cubs last August. New Dodgers GM Ned Colletti said Garciaparra seemed open to changing positions during his meetings with the player.

Looking at their potential lineup, I still think they lose 85-90 games.

I live 5 mins away from dodger stadium.. Nomar is going 2 be
on the DL for most of the season so who cares.. He annoys me
when he's at the plate and he's adjusting his wrist bands and
basically just playing with himself while up at the plate. He chose the
dodgers cause he was raised in whittier and his alot of his
family is still here.I saw him at the beverly center last year his nose looks big
                in person.

and still finish second in the division.

I'm just glad the Yankees didn't end up with him.

NL west is going to have the whole division under .500 again this year.

Yes I know the Padres finished two games above .500, but they might aswell of been under it.
