CC Sabathia gives the Indians a pitching advantage over the Angels' Ervin Santana. But both hurlers are known for getting great run support, so play the Over tonight in Anaheim.
Our Saturday night MLB selection is on the Cleveland Indians and Los Angeles Angels scoring Over the total in Anaheim.
Indians left-hander C.C. Sabathia is right in the thick of the Cy Young race in the American League. For Sabathia, the thought of that award is probably nice, but what he would really like to do is lead his team to a division pennant. And Sabathia and the Tribe are well on their way as they have extended their lead in the AL Central division to 5½ games over the Tigers.
Sabathia is a big reason for Cleveland's surprising success in 2007. He has 16 wins, a 3.24 ERA, and because he is a big, strong, workhorse of an athlete, Sabathia just seems to get stronger and stronger as the season gets longer and that is exactly what you want from your #1 starter as you head towards the playoffs.
The Angels are the second best hitting team in baseball (behind the Yankees) and they will need to get their guns out against Sabathia. They hit left-handers very well (.298 team BA) and they will need some production tonight as right-hander Ervin Santana goes to the mound. Let's just say he's been the opposite of Sabathia this season. Despite some very ugly numbers, including an ERA over six runs, the Angels are almost .500 in Santana's starts this season and that is because they average over seven runs scored when he pitches.
Sabathia also gets very good run support when he needs it, which hasn't been that often but he may just need it tonight. Take the Over.
Free Pick: Indians-Angels Over 9½
