I'm writing the same assessment that I wrote under the 89.5 game thread: They've made some nice additions (Bay, Matthews, Escobar) but they definitely still have some holes. If Beltran and Reyes can stay healthy, and Wright comes back to form, I think they have a chance. They still have a helluva ace and a helluva closer.

I think they have more than 81 wins, but I'm not betting it. I agree with Sawyer on this point: Tying up your assets with one season long bet is not a good idea.

Yep they have under achieved the past couple seasons but injuries have been a big part they go over 81 for sure if healthy. Also agree that season long bets at even money are not a good investment, but if you want to throw 10 or 20 down on a long shot to win the world series or superbowl etc. that could get your blood flowing. I had $20 on the Giants to win the NFC championship at 12-1, but wasnt smart enough to play them as Superbowl winners. In the 2007-2008 season

As long as they stay somewhat healthy I believe it will go over easily by a few games. NL East is tougher with Braves and Marlins improving but I still think they are 2nd best team in division and could possibly be an outside shot for the wildcard.

if those hitter remain healthy (which is a big if) then they should be a slightly >.500 team. no playoffs (phillies win division and braves win wild card)

They are very capable of 81-however Marlins wager quoted above really caught my attention.

if we dont win 90+ games it a waste of a season, we're 100% capable of doing so. and last year we had 87 wins and that included going like 4-24 after starting 15-1......... you win half of those games and your a smidge below 100 and run take the NL East by 4+ games

The Marlins overachieved last season, they'll be 3rd. Mets are capable of greater things than the Marlins and will seal a Wild Card place. Mets and Phillies will be the only contenders for the division and Phillies will likely edge the Mets by 5, but we will win the WC spot.
