I only got 30 units. My red alert play of 50 units came in, but I lost 20 units on the Red Sox.

when you say 50 units do you play 50 times your normal bet or what exactly does it entail???
the same for boston did you play 20 times your normal bet.
I post play per unit for all to understand easy but never give any one team multiple units

AC I saw this and I'll answer for Curious since I know how he bets. He bets by star / units.. If $25 each star/ unit then 30 units is $750.00.

I use a star system, from 5 stars to 100 stars. I had one 200 star game this year. 5 stars is something like "why not, I'll bet a few dollars on this team". 5 stars is the "basic" bet. 10 stars means I like the game okay, not going to mortgage the house though. 20 stars means I see a decided edge. 50 stars happen about once or twice a week, these almost never lose. 100 stars happen about once or twice a month, I have not lost any 100 star plays this year. I had one 200 star play this year.
Since 5 stars is my "basic" bet, 10 stars is 2 x my basic bet, 20 stars is 4 times, 50 stars is 10x, 100 stars is 20x, 200 stars is 40x. The kelly criterion dictates what my $ amount per star will be. The star rating tells me what the expectation is for the wager, so I can plug the positive expectation plus my risk tolerance plus my bank size into the kelly criterion to determine the optimum bet amount per star given the size of my bank.
Everyone's bankroll is different, so some people might be comfortable with betting $10 per star and some people might be okay with betting $100 per star. I bet anywhere from $20 to $100 per star, depending on what the results have been lately. I bet one 100 star game at $200 a star because I placed a smaller wager in the morning and when I got home the total had moved in a direction that was good for me so I backed the bet up with a bigger bet. I won that game.
So, when I say I am up 30 units it is because I vary my bet size and what I mean is that many stars at whatever my bet level per star is.
I probably made the explanation more complex than it needed to be, sorry about that.
I think on the night in question I was betting $25 a star.
