    2 Monday plays
1* Mariners +121: Mostly a situational play. Good spot to fade the Halos following the Tigers sweep. The Angels are just a .500 team on the road, while the M's have been particularly tough at home. Escobar has a 4.44 career ERA at Safeco, and while Miguel Batista's nothing special, when he keeps his sinker down he can be quite effective.

1* Twins -117: Gil Meche is often described as a great signing by the Royals, and while that's largely true, he's far from a special pitcher. He's still a guy with a career 4.52 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. Scott Baker's a capable young pitcher who's numbers this year are comparable to Meche (Baker's WHIP - 1.33/Meche - 1.29). KC is certainly improving, but they're still a last place team that's inferior to Minnesota in all aspects.

Also played the A's +111 this afternoon with Blanton and Rogers listed, but with Rogers now headed to the DL the play is voided.

I like the Twins as well, but I do like the Halo's.

For the record, I actualy like Angels and Royals.

Royals - Meche is the real deal, and he has a 2.97 ERA on the road. Baker is still too inconsistent for my taste. Also check out the offenses over the last 10 games: Kansas City .314 BA, 5.90 RPG; Minnesota .249 BA, 3.30 RPG!

Angels - While I agree this is not the best of situational spots, I think that is reflected in this rather cheap line, which appears to be dropping further. Seattle is still holding out hopes of winning the division, and I think the Halos want to send the M's a message that they are not yet ready for prime time.

You see it correctly LT. I'm not too proud to say I like chalk, but it is getting that time of the year.
