Approximately how many pitches will it take for a relief pitcher to throw, in order to make an assumption that he's not likely to pitch in tommorrow's game. ?

Approximately how many pitches will it take for a relief pitcher to throw, in order to make an assumption that he's not likely to pitch in tommorrow's game. ?

Depends on what kind of relief pitcher. For a middle relief pitcher I would say 120 pitches. Late relief probably 100. 9th inning relief probably 80.

But, then not in just one game, the relief pitcher would have to have several back to back outings of high pitch count to be not available for pitching.
