all you have to do to figure out whos gonna win the pads/reds game is look at the pitchers last starts, their ERA, the streaks that the teams are on (8 gamer for pads) and the scores of the first two games in this series (10-4, 5-0). padres all the way

you're not kidding. going from MLB forum to NBA forum is migraine-inducing. those threads are one more reason to hate on the NBA (though to be fair, it's probably more the fault of the sheep than the shepherd(s)). that said, i've always liked Sawyer's threads (and not just because pics of chicks), and he keeps a record. SweetJones55 is good too, but because he's good and people know it, his thread ends up cluttered, but he has good write-ups and a lot of useful insight, and a solid tracked and posted record over NBA season, i think.

There are at least two that I know of and one of them has been turning it out for a while.

Also, when is it actually worth doing (3 points free money basically, but my units are small, so I'm afraid to get banned at a book) Thoughts?

Make the second wager at your secondary book. If you don't have a second out, you need it as this a perfect example of free money, don't risk being shown the door but if you have MB, put out the offer or take the action to grind out your three.
