SAN FRANCISCO -- Barry Bonds hit his 749th career home run Friday night to move within six of tying Hank Aaron's career record of 755.
The San Francisco slugger connected on a 3-2 pitch from Scott Proctor in the eighth inning, hitting a line drive over the fence in right-center. It was his 15th homer of the season, but just his fourth since May 8. Bonds rounded the bases as "749" flashed on the main scoreboard.
Proctor was the 442nd pitcher to surrender a homer to Bonds. Bonds has hit two of his homers against the Yankees, also connecting during an interleague series in 2002 in New York.
