I definitely like Detroit here. Rogers is a question mark of course, but unless he needs to work out some kinks, he is usually effective in the beginnings of his seasons. Detroit's pen will obviously be an issue, as usual, and if you take Detroit and it's close in the later innings, of course it's time to pray for the breaks to fall your way.

But Smoltz has been having arm problems. He's an awesome guy, but these reports give me pause. I would not be surprised at all if he gives up like 4 runs in 3 innings, and leaves at that point with arm soreness. And then of course, at that point, it will be a very unpromising situation for Atlanta.

If Smoltz is ok and actually shuts down Detroit, and Kenny Rogers doesn't match him, it's ok, I'll eat my plus money odds losses.

But I think the value is with Detroit here. Remember, even if Smoltz is ok, Rogers could quite easily match his outing.
