Kevin Slowey is the next in the line of young Twins pitchers to make an impact at the big league level. Here are his career minor league numbers: 11-7, 1.96 ERA, 0.80 WHIP. Damn strong.
His first two starts were on the road against Oakland and LAA. Neither start was particularly impressive, but he escaped them with a 1-0 record and a 4.09 ERA. He should be better at home, and against a Braves lineup that has been in a bit of a funk this month.
Kyle Davies has been up and down lately. Really up and down.
May 11 - 7.0 IP, 7 hits, 1 run, 1 ER, Win
May 16 - 4.2 IP, 5 hits, 6 runs, 2 ER, Loss
May 22 - 8.0 IP, 6 hits, 1 run, 1 ER, Win
May 27 - 4.1 IP, 8 hits, 8 runs, 8 ER, Loss
June 1 - 7.0 IP, 6 hits, 1 run, 1 ER, Win
June 6 - 5.0 IP, 6 hits, 5 runs, 5 ER, Loss
I'm not putting a lot of stock into the alternate good/bad start thing, but it does seem he is poised for a good outing here. After giving up 5 quick runs to the Marlins, he settled in nicely, retiring the last eight batters he faced, with 6 of 8 outs by strikeout. He should have a lot of success against the Twins.
I'm not too worried about either bullpen. I think this one is something in the 4-2 range. Pretty strong play for me.
2.5* Under 9.5 -110
Everything else:
1* Diamondbacks +165
1* Rockies +165
1* Pirates -109
1* Nationals +162
