Seattle has really impressed me this year. I just can't believe the way there playing right now, it's amazing how there actually playing team ball this year unlike years past.

You're right on the money Dan. And with the Yankees doing what they have lately, we haven't heard nary a word about Seattle's hot streak (which is excellent for us punters). They're doing things the right way and look to be a contender for the remainder of the season....

Kinda ironic really. Jeff Weaver goes on the DL and the M's start winning.

They better get out of this jam and get to the top half of the inning at least tied up.

I fully expect Cleveland to tie or win the game in the bottom of the 9th.

Agreed. They came through for me tonight, but they're still the 3rd best team in their division.

No. They are way better than Oakland. LAA is the best team in the division, and I'd say they're about 2-1 favorites to win it, but Seattle is the only team capable of dethroning them.

Couldn't disagree more. Oakland will finish a minimum of 5 games ahead of Seattle. If the A's can ever get Harden healthy (big "if" I know) and put him in the rotation with Haren, Blanton, Gaudin and Kennedy, that's one of the 5 best rotation's in baseball and far superior to the Seattle. Oakland's offense scores enough runs, and they will only improve when Bradley and Piazza return. The bullpen has taken a step back from what it was in the last couple years, thanks in large part to the regression of Duchscherer and Calero, but when Huston Street comes off the DL, the pen is still more than adequate. If Loaizia ever returns, that will give them the option of moving Kennedy to the pen.

The A's will make another run after the break, just like they always do. I think they have a legitimate shot at catching the Halos and winning the division. It's a two-team race in the West, and the Mariners aren't in the equation, even if they are greatly improved.

Yeah, it's a great rotation, but Gaudin and Kennedy are both due for a fall. They are living on borrowed time (particularly Gaudin, who IMO will be the best fade the next month or so), as their ERA's are not even close to indicative of how they are pitching. The lineup is atrocious and the bullpen is worse. I don't like this team at all.

Razz is actually right about Gaudin and Kennedy. Gaudin's true ERA is almost a full run higher and Kennedy's true ERA is almost .7 of a run higher. Both numbers are statistically significant.

As far as the Seattle/Oakland debate goes, I'm not sure Seattle has the starting pitching to make a run in that division.

There is no way they should be winning these games. The fatigue should be killing them. I'll be shocked if they win tomorrow, but at this point, I don't have the heart to bet against them.

I use to think the same thing about last years Tigers team, and look what they did. They had a stretch last year where they went like 35-7.
