I Just Can't Trust Bartolo Colon as Road Chalk Tonight!
Remember that he had a late start to this season after rehabillitating a torn rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder. Then, after a great start this year, he was just awful in his last two starts, allowing a total of 15 runs and 21 hits in just 10.2 innings. It was then disclosed that he has been suffering with tendinitis, and he missed his last scheduled start. As bad as Kip Wells is for the Cardinals, I took a shot with St. Louis as a home underdog, as I think that Colon should be avoided as chalk until he proves that he is not damaged goods.

Totally agree. I passed on this game b/c I don't trust him. If there were a "normal" pitcher going for the Angels I would have taken em.

The Cards are swinging better lately but they ran into a buzzsaw last night in Lohse. Lohse had real good stuff last night.

I think the optimal word in the thread title is "trust". I'm not so sure I would "trust" Colon in this spot either.

e-man, your analysis of the Reds/Cards game was right on. Nice win for you.

I would have taken this game at -115 for the Angels, but the price is already over -130 - so probably just a pass.

Thank ya, sir. Every dog has his day, I suppose. Traditionally, I have struggled a bit in June and July but, after the unbelievably bad April, May was good and June has started off well. I hope it continues. Good luck with your Twinkies tonight.

Was there a pitching change I missed here LT. The last time I checked Kip Wells is starting tonight, and despite Colon's recent outings he's had does not worry me at all. However, I feel the best way to play this game is the over 9.5

Yes Kip Wells is pitching Dan, as I alluded to in my first post.

As bad as Kip Wells is for the Cardinals, I took a shot with St. Louis as a home underdog, as I think that Colon should be avoided as chalk until he proves that he is not damaged goods.

I wouldn't be as worried about Colon if he were healthy, but if you combine those last two staarts with the fact that he missed his last scheduled start with tendinitis, there is legitimate cause for concern.

I put 1/2 unit on the Halos last night at -124. I agree with LT, Colon certainly doesn't exude confidence, but my reasoning for playing LAA was more a result of just how ineffective Wells has been.

Not enough value there to take good ol Kip. I think the Halos light him up today. The over, like Dan mentioned, is probably the best way to go.

You were right about Colon tonight LT. He didn't last 5 innings tonight, and gave up 4 runs. The problem is that it's a 4-3 game right now in the 5th. So it's gonna be tough down the stretch to hold that 1 run lead with all those halo's base runners they have had tonight.

Kip always gives up those big innings. I still like the Halos chances in this game.

That was my point. Even if Colon sucks, which he did, Kip wells isn't much better.

Well I got what I wanted, as Wells was pulled with a chance to win and the bullpen started the 7th inning with the lead. The best laid plans of mice and men, blah blah blah...

Hey LT, I noticed ever since Napoli started to catch him is when Colon started to really struggle this year. It could be just a coincidence or not I don't know, but it's definitely something you might want to keep your eye for.
