Are these good odds for the Braves to win the WS?

Losing Gonzalez really hurts. Before that, the back end of their bullpen was as strong as anybody's. Lefties had no chance against him. But they still have a pretty good staff, above average pen, and a strong lineup, so yeah, the price is right in a weak National League.

The odds are great, but they wont win the World Series so they are meaningless. Going with an AL team might be in your best interests.

I couldn't bet it, but the odds seem about right. Like Razz said, that weak National League.

I don't think 15-1 is enough myself, so I would say don't bet it. The National League may be weak, but the Braves have the misfortune of being in the same division as its best team, the Mets. Furthermore, Atlanta is no shoe-in for the wild card. If you were to take a stab with any team in the Central or West however, I certinly could'nt knock it. Any team in those two divisions could make the playoffs, and then anything could happen in a short series. I liked San Diego before the season, but I think they've lost a lot of value now. However, teams like Arizona, the Dodgers, and I guess ANYBODY from the Central could be worth a flyer at a big price. Just stay out of the East unless you like chalk, because he Braves will not catch the Mets once they get their outfield back.

Being in Georgia, I've been following the Braves pretty closely, both in print media and radio. I don't think the starting rotation is strong enough. They don't have reliable fourth and fifth starters. If any of their top three starters were to get hurt, they'd be in a heap of trouble. Plus, I don't think anyone will beat the Mets this season. I think the odds of them winning the WS are longer than 15-1. If you were getting 25-1 or 30-1 then it would be a good bet. You could take a chance for a couple bucks just for fun (I got Atl at 5-1 to win the division), but realistically I don't think it will win.

I totally agree with Razz here...
Gonzalez and Hampton account for a big chunk of the team´s payroll. Losing them pretty much killed their chances...
Wouldnt put to much cash on that bet myself...

what about 15-1 for SD guys....their offense is relatively weak but their pitching is outstanding.

                      Any takers?

I like 40-1 for Arizona better

                          BuddyBear,

YES. When I said in my response that the value was gone on San Diego, I assumed they were like 8-1 or at most 10-1. 15-1 is GREAT, they are the second best team in the NL.

                            cincy,

Yep, 40-1 on zona is good. No shame in playing BOTH D-Backs and Padres, and maybe even a Central team for 1/4 unit.

I felt the Braves would rebound this year and make the playoffs. However if they couldn't win more than 1 championship back in the 1990's, why would you feel they can do it this year with much less talent on there roster? Needless to say I feel that you would be throwing money away if you were to make that wager.
