They just acquired Armando Benitez from the Giants.

I love how he said the Giants' batters didn't score enough runs. At least it was a backhanded admission that he needs more of a cushion than the average closer.

What is the fallout from this?

    Who's closing for SF now?

Will Benitez immediately become the FLA closer?

Kevin Gregg has been dominant and Henry Owens is healthy again. Why the hell did the Marlins make this move?

I suspect the Marlins will put him right where he belongs; middle relief. They'll let him see some action when they are up or down by 4+ runs.

Gregg is still the closer for Fla. Benitez will do setup which he may (or of course, may not) be better suited for mentally.

SF, who knows. My guess is they'll do it the old "bullpen by committee" way at first. Step right up and take your chances.

I thought the Fish finally figured out there pen problems when they finally dumped Julio. I guess I was wrong though. This guy should add a new dimension to this Florida team, because they needed a guy to teach there young staff how to make balks turn into runs for the other team.

All joking aside though, I can't see why on earth they wanted this guy at all. He will just hurt a young team like the fish more than he will help them.

Maybe the heat and humidity of Florida will help out Benitez. He did have a good year with them, something in the range of 46 saves, not sure on the number.

But he is still Benitez, and I will start to worry if I'm on the Marlins with a lead and he is warming up.
