I like the Astros in this one. Good luck with the total if you play it.

Willie look at the HOU box scores through their first 8 - they've left double digit base runners in I think 7/8. That's why I am cautiously optimistic that the offense should come around. They have base runners, just gotta get those big hits. By the way - something was F'ed up today. Weather.com had the wind at 11mph out to LF. The post game recap I read on Yahoo said 15mph blowing IN! WTF?

EP, I never trust weather.com as far as what they say the wind is doing in a particular stadium. I'm not sure they have the layout correct for all 30 parks. If you'll shoot me a PM with a reminder, I'll post the ballpark layouts tomorrow somewhere here in the bases forum (got them in a nice Word file on my work 'puter). I trust the Weather Channel to give me the right direction N-S-E-W, but I saw how they could muck up ballpark layouts a while back and have never trusted them on that since.

As for the 'waiting for the offense to bust out,' I've been doing that for the better part of 45+ seasons now. You know, if you've been following them for a while now, how they often put a crooked number up in the first inning and then go to sleep the rest of the way. A lot of LOBs mean nothing in terms of this offense getting off.

How much longer do you think Wheeler holds the closer's job?

Well Willie, LIDGE was actually warming up while Wheeler was struggling in the 9th, one day after Wheeler was named the closer.

Wheeler was laboring big time today in the 9th is right LT. I really thought the Cubs were gonna tie it up there for a while when they had 2 runners on with 1 out.

I usually double check both the weather info off BetJam - again I think is weather.com and then whomever Covers.com uses. Both #s jived today, so I just found it weird with the Yahoo recap.

The one thing I do not like about the lineup is Ensberg hitting 2nd. I know Garner says he's an on-base guy, but I'd rather have Burke in the 2 hole with his speed and stick Ensberg behind Lee for some protection!

I'm glad they didn't tie it up Dan, and even happier that Lidge was demoted yesterday. Even though Wheeler didn't do it easy, he closed it out.
