    World Series Umpires
Anyone seen an update on this yet? Last think I read was a list put out by the proverbial 'anonymous source' that the six-man crew was going to consist of Gerry Davis, Dana DeMuth, Mike Everitt, Brian Gorman, Jeff Nelson and Joe West. I assume that West would get the Crew Chief nodm and plate duty to start the rotation in Game 1, based on him having the most experience.

The good news is that same article mentioned that CB Bucknor would NOT be working this series as originally planned; the bad news is MLB think that taking umps that already have WS experience is going to solve anything. How much LCS experience does Tim McClelland have? Experience certainly didn't stop him from making an absolutely horrible call in the ALCS this year.

They should hang lines on which ump will make the first egregious mistake.

Gave you a point for using the word 'egregious' in your post, Smitcheroo

I would pick DeMuth by the way, missed call at 1B in Game 1, ruling Sabathia did beat Utley to the bag on a chopper to Teixeira.

          Hey, quit talking about me

Turns out Gerry Davis, not Joe West, will chief this crew.

The page you're trying to access could not be found or is no longer available.

New York, NY -- (Sports Network) - Gerry Davis will serve as crew chief for the 2009 World Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees, Major League Baseball announced on Tuesday.

The 26-year umpiring veteran will also be behind home plate for Game 1 on Wednesday in New York, and heads a six-man crew that includes Jeff Nelson (1B), Brian Gorman (2B), Mike Everitt (3B), Dana DeMuth (LF) and Joe West (RF).

lol, I was just happy I spelled it right on the 1st try.

Thats a good guess. I will go with Joe West calling a trap, while out of position, on an obvious catch in RF of a fisted bloop by Jeter in the bottom of the 1st in the 1st game.

Errors by the players are acceptable, I hope the chosen umpires for the World Series commit the least as possible...
