Cold Weather Theories

Wondering what you guys think about cold weather and how it effects a game. I'm looking at both the Cubs-Reds & Indians-White Sox games for the OVER. Weather is expected to be in the high 30s to low 40s, but the wind in both cities (CIN-CHI) will be blowing out at over 15 mph.

So what are your theories? Does cold effect your decision making or do you simply go with the match-up?

The cold sure does make it tougher on the pitchers.

Some pitchers actually respond well to the cold. Ted Lilly is one, for example. He actually says he enjoys pitching in colder weather, and if you look at his career stats, he has been significantly better in April and September than he has been in the summer months, and that is likely to have something to do with his response to the weather.

Of course, there are pitchers who respond the opposite way.

So as usual, it's definitely a factor, sometimes more so than others, and it is never a factor on its own, but taken in context with the other circumstances involved.

Yeah, it all depends. Look at Johan. He typically starts out slow, but once it hits the summer months and the heat, he turns into a freaking machine.
