Brad Penny and John Smoltz since leaving Boston to return to the NL
    Penny:

8 innings, 5 hits, 1 walk, no runs in Philadelphia. 4-0 win.

    John Smoltz:

5 innings, 3 hits, no walks, no runs, 9 Ks in San Diego. 5-2 win

6 innings, 4 hits, 1 walk, 1 run, 6 Ks at home against the Nationals. 3-2 win

Smoltz did pitch against two bad teams, and obviously the NL has no DH, but wow. What a marked difference. Those two were awful for the Red Sox. They couldn't pitch effectively at all.

This year the Phils can make a bad pitcher look good. I will probably fade Penny heavy next game. But you can't help but scratch your head at how these guys both turned it around (so far at least).

Is fading Phillies a good idea since the other side usually have a big plus money ML?

No, the Phils are a complete enigma right now... Very difficult to cap/call. Better to just stay away.

Was watching the MLB network a few nights ago and they showed that Smoltz was tipping his pitches when he was with the Sox. They picked apart his start against the Yanks. He made an adjustment when he got with the Cards and bang. Just love that the phukin Red Sux didn't pick up on it.
