Big Apple Parlay: Mets Win, Yankees Lose!
This parlay is not as insane as you might think. Of course, a week ago I predicted that the Mets would beat the ultra-awesome Cliff Lee and look what that got us. (I was a week too early and Lee hit his predicted bump in the road tonight against the Braves.)

But f that, I got another one tonight, and it is based on equally warped logic that might make sense to warped gamblers like me.

    My Big Apple Parlay:
$40 to win $380 on the Mets and White Sox ML

Okay, the Mets are huge +230 dogs, and for them to win, they have to beat Carlos Zambrano: Bad back, hasn't won in a month, allowed 8 runs in his last outing, his team is almost dead for the playoffs: this could happen. The Cubs just have to suck against Nelson Figueroa. Wait, did I just say the Cubs have to suck? Done deal.

Okay, I take that back. The Cubs exploded for 11 runs tonight and if they get hot, this team can win 15 of 20 like the Yankees. But.... Do you think that will happen? Look, the Cubs could lose to a triple-A team 12-1 on any given day, and that day could come tomorrow.

Okay, the White Sox are huge +220 dogs and for them to win, they have to beat Joba Chamberlain: 1-2 in his last 4 starts with an 8.55 ERA.... Um, yeah, this could happen. It is worth noting that the Sox just got creamed 10-0 by the Yanks, and Ozzie Guillen lit into his team afterwards, saying, "I'm embarrassed. Everybody in that room should be embarrassed... I watched Little League this morning and they played better. This is not major league ball. I'm getting a lot of money to manage this team, and I feel like I'm stealing money from Jerry Reinsdorf."

Okay, for most MLB players, this kind of tirade from the manager could crush their little baby hearts and make them weep into mommy's cleavage. But the Sox have (quite remarkably) responded well in the past when Guillen whips their asses.

Okay, for the red-hot Yankees to lose, they have to suck against Freddy Garcia: 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA. Impossible, right? But wait. The 33-year-old Garcia, who is 4-3 with a 4.19 ERA in nine starts against the Yankees, has a 1.31 WHIP and allowed only 3 runs in 6 1/3 innings against the mighty Red Sox in his last start. This is his 3rd start since being called up from triple-A and he has something to prove. Garcia has a 118-78 career record with a 1.30 WHIP. Garcia has held Derek Jeter to a .179 BA and Johnny Damon to a .205 BA in his career. A-Rod hits him well, but I'll take my chances.

Okay, so there you have it. The Big Apple parlay for nearly 10-1 odds. A two-team parlay for nearly 10-1 odds.

Okay, but it's not over, okay? As long as we are being insane, let's throw this parlay into the mix with another huge dog on Sunday: The Nats beat the Cardinals straight up, +310 ML. The Cards have to lose against Garrett Mock, who gave up 4 runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Cubs in his last start but went 2-1 with a 2.12 ERA in his previous three outings. And the Nats have to beat the ultra-awesome Adam Wainwright. Wait, didn't I just call Cliff Lee ultra-awesome? Didn't Lee just get crushed by the Braves? Does Washington have a better hitting team than the Braves? Is this logic warped enough for you?

Okay, would you bet $6 to win $250 on a 3-team parlay?

My Big Apple + Insanity Parlay:
$60 to win $2,537 on the Mets, White Sox and Nats MLs.
