I've put out a couple of these O/U alerts and hit on both of them. Hoping to sweep a twinbill tomorrow and go 4-0.
S.F. @ NY Mets: Under 7
Obama beat me to the punch, but I've been looking at this game for the last hour and I see a winner with the under. Some people get queasy betting an under 7 game, but if you believe in Matt Cain, you should jump on this one. The only reason the oddsmakers didn't make this under 6.5 is because Cain has had a couple semi-shaky outings in his last two games. We are looking at two of the premier pitchers in the game with Cain and Johan Santana, both in the running for the Cy Young this year (along with Cain's team mate, Lincecum). We're also looking at two of the weakest offenses in the majors. This late afternoon game should be a pitcher's duel of the highest order and I wouldn't be surprised to see it end 3-1.
L.A. Dodgers @ AZ D'Backs: Under 9
This one features Hiroki Kuroda and Doug Davis. Kuroda might appear to be the weak link here, but he has lowered his ERA in each of his last 4 starts and the Dodgers have won his last 5 starts. He's still only 5-5 with a 4.21 ERA, but his 1.19 WHIP indicates that you can't judge his book by the cover. Doug Davis is only 7-10 with a 1.44 WHIP, but he has also lowered his ERA in each of his last 4 starts, taking it down to 3.62. Bottom line, after a 4-1 D'Backs win yesterday, I think the Dodgers will continue to struggle at the plate, but Kuroda will rescue them with a solid outing in 5-3 type victory.
