I almost swore off betting bases until they would start using the laser gun to call balls and strikes. We used to get 'umpire information' more readily than today. They may call high strikes or outside strikes today. 4 days later, they are calling low strikes.
As bettors, it works for us and against us for sure. But when it works against, it is just a disqusting place to be. Watching a pitch 2 inches outside the strike zone called a strike, ending a rally; is just plain horrible.
Balls and strikes called by a human being is the most antiquated event in all of sports. Considering there are billions bet on these games. I believe it is time to institute a more exacting and honorable situation at home plate.
So many times a batter is forced to swing at pitches in the dirt because the umpire has called balls 2 inches below the zone for strikes. It does work both ways; but it still does not make the game better.
