    Yankees/Nationals 7.23.20
I'm looking at jumping on over 7 or 7.5 (depending on where you look). I expect this line to be at 7.5 (or even 8) everywhere by gameday. I realize there are two top pitchers facing off, but everything seems to favor more offense.

    • No real spring training. Yes, they are professional athletes, and I'm expect they've put maximum effort in preparation. But even so, I wouldn't be surprised if both starting pitchers only pitch five (max six) innings.
    • Then the bullpens kick in and this is where things will be interesting to see how they play out with each reliever having to face a minimum three batters (or the end of an inning). So the lefty vs. righty matchups should eventually go in favor of the batter more times than the pitchers. And there's no restrictions on offensive substitutions, so if the pitcher is on his second or third batter, and the number 9 hitter is up, he can easily be replaced for a more solid batter if the situation warrants it (e.g. runner in scoring position)
    • Both teams now have the DH which should mean more offense (especially with relievers having to face the three batter minimum)
    • No fans. I'm thinking this has to favor the batter more than the pitcher. With the lack of distractions coming from the outfield, the batters should be able to see the ball better. It may feel more like batting practice to them.
    • Tie game scenario. Tenth inning starts with a runner on second for each team. So even if the game is tied 3-3 after 9, it's likely to see at least three more runs scored.
    • And the season is starting in July. Warmer weather, ball travels farther. Should see a few dingers.

I'm considering taking the first 5 innings under and the game over as i expect the majority of runs may be scored after the sixth inning.

    Just my thoughts.
